Pogoń Szczecin defeated Wieczysta Kraków 2:0 in Sunday's 8th round match of the Ekstraklasa. Two second-half goals secured all three points for the port city side and moved them up the table.

Darko Churlinov opened the scoring in the 59th minute of the match. Spanish forward Jordi Sanchez sealed the final result in the last minute of added time, celebrating his debut goal for Pogoń.

"It's fantastic. Pride in the lineup, we worked very well. It was a dream debut. I am very happy," Sanchez emphasised after the game.

The first half ended in a goalless draw. After the break, the Szczecin side took the initiative and executed their attacks more effectively. For top scorer Jordi Sanchez, it was his first goal for his new club and his seventh of the season overall.

Newly-promoted Wieczysta's lineup featured former Pogoń striker, Greek Efthimis Koulouris. He was unable to threaten his former teammates' goal, however.

The victory allowed coach Oscar Garcia's team to climb to fifth place in the league standings. The portmen have collected 12 points and are six points behind leaders Górnik Zabrze. The current state of play can be checked on our league standings page.

Pogoń's next match is away to Piast Gliwice in a week's time. Ahead of that fixture, it's worth checking the schedule of upcoming matches.

Spanish forward Jordi Sanchez, who joined the club in the last transfer window, confirmed his scoring prowess. He now has seven goals for the season, putting him at the top of the Ekstraklasa scoring charts.
