Pogoń Szczecin returned to winning ways in the PKO BP Ekstraklasa. The team secured a 2-0 home victory over newly-promoted Wieczysta Kraków in the eighth round, ending a run of three consecutive league draws.
The club from Szczecin had not won since August, drawing with Wisła Kraków, Zagłębie Lubin, and Wisła Płock. The match against the league newcomer was a chance to rebuild their position in the table. Wieczysta, who had gathered only four points since promotion and were in the relegation zone, proved a tough opponent, but Pogoń executed their plan.
The opening goal came in the 59th minute from Darko Churlinov, assisted by Patryk Dziczek. The second, deep into added time, was scored by Jordi Sánchez, also set up by Dziczek. This victory improves the team's recent form, which reads one win, three draws, and one loss (WDLDD) from their last five outings.
