Pogoń Szczecin is preparing for the start of the new PKO BP Ekstraklasa season, which will begin at the end of July. The club wants to improve on last season's result, which saw them finish 9th in the table. Patryk Dziczek has already joined the team from Piast Gliwice, while Krzysztof Kamiński, Leonardo Koutris, and Danijel Loncar have all left the club. One of Pogoń's priorities in recent weeks has been to bring in a new goalkeeper. The choice fell on Nikolaos Botis. The Greek goalkeeper was most recently associated with Olympiakos Pireus, and has moved to Szczecin on a free transfer after his contract expired. The 22-year-old goalkeeper has signed a contract that will run until June 2029, with an option to extend for a further twelve months. Botis trained at the Inter Milan academy, which he joined in 2020. He regularly played for the Italian giants in the Primavera and youth Champions League. Two years ago, he moved to Olympiakos, where he mainly played for the reserve team in the Greek Super League 2. He made two appearances for one of the most successful clubs in Greece. Nikolaos Botis is excited about the opportunity to play for Pogoń Szczecin. The team will face Legia Warszawa on the opening day of the new Ekstraklasa season, with the match scheduled for July 24 at 20:30.
