Pogoń Szczecin can be proud of its representative who took part in the World Cup. Hussein Ali, 24-year-old defender of Pogoń Szczecin, played in Iraq's first match in the tournament. Norwegians turned out to be better, giving Iraq four goals. Hussein Ali had a few good passes, but he didn't block the assist for Erling Haaland's first goal. In the second half, he had a scoring chance, but he missed it. After his departure from the field, Iraq's game improved slightly, but it was not enough for a win. Pogoń Szczecin can be proud of its representative who joined the exclusive group of Pogoń players who played in the World Cup. So far, only two players from Pogoń have participated in the World Cup: Marek Ostrowski (1986 in Mexico) and Kamil Grosicki (2022 in Qatar).
