Pogoń Szczecin hosted a massive football tournament for nearly 480 young talents, providing a spectacular end to the summer holidays. The nationwide Florian Krygier 'End of Holidays 2026' Tournament took place on 28 August at the Pogoń Szczecin Academy facilities, with participants from the 2016 and 2018 birth years.
The event, covered by the club's official outlet, held special significance as it celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Pogoń Szczecin Football Schools Foundation. Participation was completely free for all children. Each young player received a warm meal, water, a commemorative medal, and a diploma. "We wanted every young player to feel like a winner," the organizers emphasized.
Who attended the tournament?
Stars from Pogoń Szczecin's first team were present. Joze Pozo and Rajmund Molnár attended the event. The players gave autographs, posed for photos, and high-fived the children, which was a huge attraction for them. Molnár's involvement is particularly noteworthy given he is currently sidelined with an injury, as confirmed by our injuries list. His engagement off the pitch demonstrates the club's strong ties to the local community.
Before the competition began, the children enjoyed a football freestyle demonstration. It was presented by trick virtuoso Dominik Bartoszewicz. "The football freestyle show was presented by a virtuoso of tricks," Bartoszewicz reported, with his performance heating up the atmosphere before the matches.
What else did the event offer besides football?
The tournament was about more than just sport. Organizers set up an inflatable zone, food areas, and a professional Health Zone provided by Olimedica Centrum Medyczne. In this zone, parents and children could access free specialist consultations. The entire event was co-financed by state budget funds managed by the Minister of Sport and Tourism under the 'Aktywni Lokalnie' program via the Orły Sportu Foundation. Additional funding came from the Gmina Miasto Szczecin.
Organizational partners also joined the effort: Pogoń Szczecin S.A., Szczecińska Energetyka Cieplna, Pallada Ubezpieczenia, Drukarnia Królewicz, Olimedica Centrum Medyczne, and OHP Szczecin. Their support was key to ensuring the event's high standard and free nature.
What are Pogoń's plans after the summer break?
While the young football hopefuls were ending their holidays, the first team is preparing for important challenges. The next test in the Ekstraklasa will be a home match against Śląsk Wrocław, scheduled for 21 November 2026. This fixture carries extra historical context, as the two clubs will meet for the third time in Polish Cup history, with Śląsk having won the two previous encounters. The club is also recording commercial success. Over 7,000 match jerseys have been sold this season, precisely 7,035. This shows growing fan support.
