Pogoń Szczecin says goodbye to Oscar Garcia's assistant

Pogoń Szczecin started the season with a loss to Legia Warsaw (0:1) and two wins: Cracovia (2:0) and Motor Lublin (3:1). It seems that "Portowcy" under the leadership of coach Oscar Garcia are starting to go in the right direction. However, it turns out that - if we believe the media reports - the Spaniard will lose one of his assistants.

Who is he and why is he leaving the club?

Joaquin Gomez Blasco, Oscar Garcia's assistant, left Pogoń Szczecin after just a month of work in the club. The Spaniard parted ways with the team by mutual agreement. Gomez Blasco worked in five clubs since the beginning of 2025. From January 16, 2025, to June 1, 2025, he was a coach at Borneo FC. In July of the same year, he took over the Cypriot Anorthosis. He worked only until September. From October to November, he led Kachanburi. Before joining Pogoń Szczecin for half a year, he was a coach at the Spanish club Gimnastica Segoviana FC.

What's next for Pogoń Szczecin?

Pogoń Szczecin will pause in the next round of Ekstraklasa. Their next match will be played on August 23 against Wisła Kraków. After three rounds, "Portowcy" occupy third place in the league table. They are losing a point to the leading Lech Poznań and second Legia Warsaw.
