What’s happening with Alfie Dorrington’s transfer?

Pogoń Szczecin have reached a preliminary agreement with Tottenham Hotspur for the permanent transfer of 21-year-old Alfie Dorrington. According to journalist Ben Jacobs, the details of the deal with the English defender still need to be finalized. The 'Portowcy' are hoping the move can be completed before the transfer window closes.

Dorrington, a Spurs academy graduate, spent years in the club’s youth setups, featuring for the U18, U19, and U21 sides. In the 2023/24 season, he helped the U21s win the Premier League 2 title. Though he missed the 3:1 final victory over Sunderland U21, his contributions earned him the championship medal.

Why this matters for Pogoń Szczecin

Dorrington brings valuable experience at both ends of the pitch. Over the past year and a half, he has played senior football in Scotland and European competitions. From January 2025 to May 2026, he was on loan at Aberdeen-where he lifted the Scottish Cup-and at fourth-tier Salford. In Scotland, he also logged minutes in the UEFA Europa Conference League, gaining continental experience.

For Pogoń Szczecin, currently mixing results with inconsistency, adding an experienced defender could prove decisive. Their last outing ended in a 1-1 draw with GKS Katowice on 23 May 2026, and their recent form reads two wins, two draws, and one loss in the last five matches (DDWWL).

What’s next for Dorrington’s move?

While a preliminary deal is in place, the finer points of the 21-year-old’s contract still need sorting. If finalized, Dorrington would join a group of players who have featured in the Premier League.

The England youth international has also represented his country at levels from U15 up to U19. His defensive nous and big-game experience could be crucial to Pogoń Szczecin’s ambitions this season.

With the transfer window ticking and Ekstraklasa rivals active, Szczecin must move fast to secure the deal. Rajmund Molnár remains sidelined, adding urgency to the search for defensive stability.
