In the first match of the PKO BP Ekstraklasa season, Pogoń Szczecin faced Legia Warszawa and lost at home. The decisive goal came in the 96th minute from substitute Zoran Arsenić.
Pogonia, which finished ninth after losing 15 matches last season, was the host team. Coach Marek Papszun of Wojska said:
