Pogoń Szczecin has confirmed the permanent departure of midfielder Fredrik Ulvestad, who joins Danish club Odense BK on a free transfer. The Norwegian player left the Polish top-flight side on 2 September, concluding a three-year spell with the club.
The news was first reported by the Polish outlet sport.interia.pl. Ulvestad made 109 appearances for Pogoń since his arrival in the summer of 2023, scoring 18 goals and providing 10 assists. His exit is part of a wider summer exodus that saw over ten players leave the team. Only the departures of Sam Greenwood and Alex Hlebinsky brought in transfer fees, while the majority, including Ulvestad, left for free.
The club bid farewell to the player with an official statement. "We thank you for your commitment and the work you put into the development of our club, Fredrik!" Pogoń Szczecin wrote.
Where will Ulvestad play next?
Fredrik Ulvestad has joined Odense BK, a team competing in the Danish Superliga. At his new club, the Norwegian will reunite with manager Thomas Thomasberg. For Pogoń, losing an experienced midfielder is a significant blow, especially considering their current league position. After six matchdays, Pogoń Szczecin sits in eighth place in the Ekstraklasa table with five points.
The squad is also dealing with injury issues. Rajmund Molnár is currently sidelined, further limiting the manager's options. The current state of the team can be tracked on our squad and injuries pages.
What does Pogoń's summer transfer balance look like?
The summer transfer window brought a significant squad overhaul for Pogoń Szczecin. A whole group of players departed, with only a few transfers generating income. This exodus presents a serious challenge for the club's management and coaching staff regarding squad depth and maintaining competitiveness.
The departures included both key figures and squad players. Such a scale of change requires time for new signings to integrate and for the team to gel. Portowcy now face the task of consolidating the team ahead of the autumn part of the season.
When is Pogoń's next fixture?
The next test for the revamped Pogoń team will be a home match against Śląsk Wrocław. The fixture is scheduled for 21 November 2026. It will be an important check on the team's form and the effectiveness of the squad changes. The full schedule of Portowcy's matches is available on our fixtures page.
Before that encounter, the team has time for further training work. Ultimately, Fredrik Ulvestad ended his chapter at Pogoń Szczecin after 109 official appearances, directly contributing to 28 goals.
